Custom 45' Mobile CT Coach — DeFuniak Springs, Florida

Philips Incisive CT 5100
State Appropriation Funded
Physician-Owned Hospital

Project Overview

USA Mobile Medical designed and built a custom 45' drivable CT coach for North Walton Doctors Hospital in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Funded through a Florida state appropriation and built in partnership with Philips, the coach is equipped with the Philips Incisive CT 5100 and anchors a new lung cancer screening initiative serving communities across Northwest Florida.

Why it matters here: Walton County loses ground on exactly the measure mobile screening is built to change. In 2023, 71.4% of lung cancer cases in the county were diagnosed at an advanced stage, against 61.5% across Florida (Florida Health CHARTS, Florida Department of Health). Advanced-stage diagnosis has run above the state rate in eight of the last ten reported years.

The Vision: North Walton Doctors Hospital is a physician-owned hospital in a community that lost its hospital before local physicians reopened it. The mobile CT program extends that same idea outward: a town that fought to get its hospital back shouldn't have to travel for early detection.

What Made This Program Possible

01

State Appropriation Funding

A Florida state appropriation funded the coach outright, letting a community hospital stand up imaging capability without a capital campaign.

02

Philips Incisive CT 5100

Built in partnership with Philips around the Incisive CT 5100, with the coach layout engineered to the scanner rather than retrofitted.

03

Physician-Owned, Community-Rooted

A hospital brought back by its own physicians, now extending its reach beyond its walls.

04

Screening Where People Live

The coach takes early detection into communities across the region instead of asking patients to travel for it.

A town that fought to get its hospital back shouldn't have to travel for early detection.
